Upload Your Transcript to Calculate GPA

Take a photo of your transcript or drop in the PDF. Course names, credits and grades are read for you, the grading scale is detected, and the credit-weighted GPA appears below — free, no sign-up, nothing stored.

What Happens When You Upload a Transcript

Upload transcript to calculate GPA in three steps: pick the file, check the rows that come back, read the number. The file is read once — course names, credit values, grades, and the semester or year each row belongs to. The grading scale is detected from the document rather than assumed, so a UK transcript printed out of 100 is not silently treated as an American 4.0 one. Everything lands in the table above as editable rows, so you can correct a misread line before trusting the number.

GPA = Σ (Grade Points × Credits) ÷ Total Credits

Rows that carry no grade points — Pass, Condoned Pass, Withdrawn, Audit, Exempt, or a non-credit-bearing extra unit — are imported with an empty grade so they appear in the list without dragging the average around.

Eight Grading Scales, Not Just the American One

Most transcript tools assume a US 4.0 scale and mangle anything else. These are read natively:

ScaleWhere it's usedTop grade
4.0United States, Canada, many Malaysian universitiesA = 4.0
4.3US schools that award A+, Hong KongA+ = 4.3
4.5South KoreaA+ = 4.5

7.0AustraliaHD = 7.0

A Note on UK Transcripts

UK degrees are marked out of 100, and the number this page produces is the credit-weighted average of your marks. That is the right figure for a US-style GPA conversion, but it is not always the figure your university prints as the final result: many UK programmes weight whole stages (for example 0% for Year 1, 32% for Year 2, 68% for Year 3) rather than weighting every module equally. If the transcript shows a stage-weighted overall average, expect the two numbers to differ, and quote the official one on applications.

What It Reads, and What to Check

Privacy

GPA calculations run locally in your browser. When you choose Upload Transcript, the selected image or PDF is sent to an AI service so the text can be read; this site does not retain the file. Course names, credits, and grades are never written to a server, and closing the tab clears them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my GPA from a transcript?

Upload a photo or PDF. Each course name, credit value, and grade is read from the document and filled into the calculator above, the grading scale is detected, and the credit-weighted GPA is the sum of grade points times credits divided by total credits. Check the imported rows against the paper before relying on the result.

How do I calculate my GPA from an unofficial transcript?

The same way as an official one — an unofficial transcript from a student portal shows the same course names, credits, and grades, so a screenshot works. The GPA it produces is unofficial too: a school may recalculate using its own rules for retakes, transfer credits, and pass/fail courses.

How do I calculate my GPA from a college transcript?

College GPA is credit-hour weighted, so a 4-credit course counts four times as much as a 1-credit lab. Upload the transcript, confirm the credit column was read correctly, then read the cumulative GPA. Pass/Fail and Withdrawn rows carry no grade points and stay out of the average. There is a dedicated college GPA calculator if you would rather type the courses in.

How do I calculate my GPA from a high school transcript?

Most US high schools give 1 credit per year-long class and 0.5 per semester class, so an unweighted GPA is close to a plain average. If the transcript shows Honors, AP, or IB courses, a weighted GPA adds 0.5 or 1.0 to those grade points — use the weighted GPA calculator for that, or the high school GPA calculator for both figures side by side.

Which grading scales can be read from a transcript?

Eight: US 4.0, US 4.3 with A+, Korean 4.5, Singaporean 5.0, Australian 7.0, Indian and Pakistani 10.0 CGPA, French and Lebanese 20-point, and straight percentage marks. The scale is detected from the document rather than assumed to be American.

Is my transcript stored anywhere?

No. The file is sent once to an AI service to be read and is not retained by this site. Everything after that is calculated in your browser.

What file types work?

JPG, PNG, WebP, and PDF. Photos are resized before upload, so a phone picture is fine as long as the text is legible.
